last night's dessert...a chocolate torte that i served with a dollop of homemade raspberry preserves, a dollop of homemade blackberry jam, and a dollop of freshly whipped cream. the menu also included cream of mushroom soup (recipe from balthazar) and crostini with roasted beets, goat cheese, and sauteed kale. everything was decadent, but simple in its own way. pretty awesome, actually. what did you all do last night?

Sounds (and looks) delicious, Stace!

We had a v-day brunch at our local gastro pub, owned by the guy who did the food for our wedding. I had a cheeseburger, but Mike had chicken fried seitan that was amazing. Our friends Aimee and Dan threw a party for Aimee's birthday at the local VFW. Looks scary from the outside, but inside it was pretty cool! Aimee is of southeastern asian descent, and she maid a buffet of amazing food...homemade crab rangoons, plus a vegan version, as well as a delicious (tasting and smelling) buffet of spring rolls, noodle dishes, and sweet-flavored buns. It was good to hang with the neighborhood crew and catch up.

It was also fun to purchase my first card for Mike that referred to him as "husband." Dorky, but true.

i made mass quantities of chicken parmesan for danny's family - and a 3 small pans of eggplant parm for me to have at home over the next week or so. it's gross cooking the chicken, but worth it because it's danny's favorite dish. and the eggplant was delish!
